“Spring cleaning is the absolute worst.”
– Jared Mecham

Well, Jared, some people might agree with you. Who am I kidding, I’m sure most people agree with you. But spring cleaning is something that I absolutely LOVE. In fact, I love it so much that I make it part of my quarterly schedule. I do spring cleaning in the winter, the fall, the summer, and of course, the spring!

When you are raised as an organized person, it comes easy because I feel like it’s a part of my personality. I feel accomplished when things are in order and honestly, I feel a lot happier when things are in order. So, I clean.

When I talk to others, or when I hear others talk about spring cleaning, it’s that yearly chore that takes forever and makes everyone miserable. It’s the yard; it’s the clothes, it’s the cabinets, dusting, vacuuming, wiping, spraying, washing, BLEH! But I love it. I want to tell you why I love it.

Here’s the secret

It goes back to the first paragraph of this blog post. It’s part of my regular routine. I don’t save every. single. thing. for spring cleaning. I pick up and clean as I go. It really is just baby steps.  When I have a spare moment, I take a quick look around the house and see what I can do in 5 minutes, 2 minutes, or even as I walk out of the room.

I also try to assign a certain part of the house or room for a specific day. For example, on Mondays, I’ll clean one or two bathrooms. Tuesday, I’ll do laundry. It helps not to overload yourself with the whole house on one day. Start small with one room. If you’re efficient, add another one. Work at it until you’ve got the groove down and can get multiple rooms or tasks in a cleaning session. One good example of a baby step is looking at a room as you leave. Ask yourself, “Is there anything in this room I can take with me and put away?”

Believe me, I know.

I’m a Mom with 3 kids. Heck, my husband is so playful and energetic, we can add him to that list. Some of you out there are single moms, and some of you have no kids. Sometimes there’s just not enough time in the day or energy in the body to clean a house, let alone do a baby step. Guess what? That’s okay! Sometimes getting through the day is as simple as surviving the day.

I think we’re all naive to think that some homes are always perfect. They’re not always perfect. We’re not perfect. In all honesty, there are different seasons of life that I’ve let the house get way messier than I would normally allow. Sometimes, I’ve even hired someone to help me clean bathrooms when I was at the end of my line. Don’t let the “perfect” appearance of others get you down. But, when we’re up for it, and we’re ready to do some cleaning, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite items that I use to clean.

My favorite cleaning items

These are all items that I have purchased myself and use on a regular basis. If you have any specific questions about them, let me know!

The nice thing about my cleaning is that I don’t tackle it all at once, and try to keep it as simple as possible. I use simple products that are tough enough to get the job done.  So, let me ask. How do you like cleaning? =)
